Liquid Drop Art

This is simply amazing and very, very fascinating! Corrie White takes these incredible, colourful photos of water drops. I am not sure I can imagine how much effort it takes to take this kind of photos, which makes it even more admirable. I know that I wouldn't have the patience for this kind of photography (and I might be too lazy as well... all that equipment, you know!). So I'll just keep admiring Corrie's beautiful work. I can't get enough of those colours and crazy shapes, so inspiring.

The Kandinsky Effect

A painting by Wassily Kandinsky in motion (+jazz). Kandinsky's use of geometric shapes and lots of colours has always fascinated me, so I think this video is pretty cool. It's made by a jazz trio called "The Kandinsky Effect", you can check out more of their music here.

The Emperor's Castle

If you're into origami just like me, you'll probably like this, am I right? I think it's pretty awesome! But then again, architectural models fascinates me a lot in general, so it's not surprising that I really like it. So many tiny details, I love it!
The project is called The Emperor's Castle and it's made by British architect Thomas Hillier. On his website it's described like this "a fantastical theatre of surreal spatial thresholds sited in Tokyo that used narrative as a vehicle to examine current day cultural and social issues within Japan". You can read more about it on his website, if you want.

I used the same pattern for some of my origami, as you might have seen in this post. It's pretty cool to see origami from an architectural perspective "in action", as that is exactly what we had to do.

Etsy treasures in orange and blue

It's no secret that I spend quite a lot of time on Etsy, browsing for beautiful things I shouldn't buy, because I have to spend my money on things I actually need. And I don't like the fact, but it would be a lie if I said need new earrings. But you are allowed to dream, right?

Poppies

I love poppies, it's one of my favourites when it comes to flowers. I really like how fragile they are (but that's also the bad thing about them - they're not long lasting and almost impossible to bring inside).

I'm always looking for beautiful prints for my bare, white walls. I found these prints by Jennifer Comstock at Etsy a while ago, maybe one of these would be suitable for my wall decoration project. I just can't decide which one I like the most.

Mixed media

It seems that blogger is up and running again, so it's time for a new post, before I return to my preparations for my written examination next week.
I found these "photo-illustrations" by Johan Thörnqvist the other day and I just had to share his artwork. The mixed media effect is pretty fascinating, I think. And those small houses are perfect - they remind me of those kinds of houses I liked to draw when I was a little girl (except that my houses were not as pretty as his). Sand art

Take a look at this cool video where Kseniya Simonova makes an amazing "movie" with sand as medium. There's so many details, it's quite impressive!



She won "Ukraine's Got Talent" in 2009 and since then she has made a lot of sand stories. You can see more at her youtube channel, if you like.

Art by Zum

This is an artist I discovered many years ago and I really like her quirky style. At deviantART she calls herself Zum, unfortunately I haven't been able to find her real name anywhere, but you can check out her gallery here - there are a lot of pretty things to look at in there! The colours and the textures are quite beautiful. I like the way she draws hair and leaves it without colour sometimes. Even though she uses the same symbols (e.g. stars and birds) a lot it never gets boring. Because I like a lot of her work so much it has been quite difficult to pick out a few of them...



I've been thinking about buying a print to decorate my wall, the only problem is that I can't choose which one I want the most.
