Poppies

I love poppies, it's one of my favourites when it comes to flowers. I really like how fragile they are (but that's also the bad thing about them - they're not long lasting and almost impossible to bring inside).

I'm always looking for beautiful prints for my bare, white walls. I found these prints by Jennifer Comstock at Etsy a while ago, maybe one of these would be suitable for my wall decoration project. I just can't decide which one I like the most.

Which one do you prefer?

Woodpeckers and tree overload

I know there's a lot of trees in this post, but I couldn't choose between them. One night we ended up staying at a camp site at Cachuma Lake. It was dark when we arrived, so we had no idea what it looked like before we woke up next morning. It was a nice place and there was a lot (and I mean a lot) of woodpeckers in the trees. I've never seen so many woodpeckers at a time (which explains my eagerness with the camera). On our way up north we also went to see Solvang, the "Danish" city. To me it looked more German than Danish though.

Movies I've seen recently #2

On the plane back home I celebrated New Year's Eve with these movies.

Drive (2011)

I'd heard a lot about this movie, so when it was right in front of me, I thought Drive would be a good way to start the flight. And it was good, in spite of a few nasty scenes. I loved the interaction between Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. So sweet!

Crazy, stupid, love (2011)

Another movie starring Ryan Gosling felt like a must see. It was quite fun, I really liked it. I could easily watch it again, even though it might be a little bit predictable (but just a little). Eye candy in the shape of Mr. Gosling is always a good thing.

Notting Hill (1999)

It was okay. Fine pastime activity if you don't have anything else to do - which was exactly my situation. I usually like to stay awake the whole time during the flight.

When Harry met Sally (1989)

Okay, this movie was not good at all. It was so boring and there wasn't anything pretty to look at to distract me from the boredom. Maybe it's just beacuse it's old. Maybe not. I think I should've chosen Ratatouille in stead.

Missing Missy

Inquisitive Eyes (Day 237/365)

This mail correspondence is fun, make sure you read it all.
By the way, I've made a new header for the blog. I'm not sure if it's finished yet, but until I get a better idea this will be fine. Do you like it?

Sunny San Diego

We spent Christmas Eve in San Diego, starting at Pacific Beach and Crystal Pier (unfortunately I deleted my photos of Crystal Pier before I got to see them, bummer). The weather was really nice, a lot of surfers enjoyed it too. Later we took a walk in downtown San Diego and ate Christmas Dinner at a restaurant in the Gaslamo Quarter.
It was very different from what we're used to do on Christmas Eve, but I didn't miss being at home as much as I thought I would. As long as the company is the best, it doesn't matter where in the world I am, I guess.

Skog and Funghi

One of the light bulbs in my ceiling lamp has blown, so I dream about better lighting these days. I don't have many lamps as it is, so it's kind of dark in here. Maybe I should put lamp and bulb shopping on my to-do-list...

Anyway, I stumbled upon these cool, colourful lamps yesterday. I got a thing for glass, especially coloured glass. If I had space (and money) for the whole group I'd love to have them in my home.

They remind me of the Funghi lamps (last photo) I've had a photo of in my inspiration folder for years. But I think I prefer the Skog lamps. Even though I (also) love ceramics, I think it works better with a glass shade. I mean, how much light do you get from a lamp that doesn't have a translucent shade?

We visited Cabrillo National Monument, looked for grey whales and saw the beautiful lighthouse at Point Loma.
