March Challenge?

Good evening, just a quick hello!
So, it's the last day of February tomorrow. Time really flies. Spring is in the air, the birds are singing all day long (and I'm almost singing too when riding my bike in the morning), my gloves are almost too hot to wear and there's much more light in my apartment. It's fantastic that I don't have to turn on the light in the middle of the afternoon anymore, I've been waiting for this for months.

I read about the march challenge at See Hear Say and I'm considering to take part in it. It could be fun and usually I like to stick to my routines, so it's definitely going to be a challenge. I'm now sure I can think of 31 things I can do different, but hopefully it will become easier as time goes by.
If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to inspire me!

I never finished my "Postcards from Italy" series, but better late than never, right? This is from Milan, where we spent one day looking at expensive shops, the cathedral and the beautiful arcade Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The arcade is just amazing, the roof is so fine.

In April, I'm going back to Italy (mainly Rome, where I've never been before - I'm so excited!) and I'll go to Milan for a few days, which I'm looking so much forward to. I think I'll try to get even better photos of the arcade. I just love the style it's built in. So so pretty.

Movies I've seen recently #3

If you have some extra time this weekend and you don't know what to do, you could watch a movie or two. And if you can't decide which movie to watch, here's some inspiration. I'd go for Breaking and Entering if I had to watch one of them again.

Breaking and entering (2006)

There is an architect in it. And Jude Law is in it (he's the architect, Will). It's good. Watch it, if you get the chance. Watch the trailer here. By the way, it took me a long time to realise, where I had seen Will's wife before (it happens quite often when I watch a movie, do you know the feeling?). By the end of the movie I figured it out, it was Jenny from Forrest Gump!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

I liked the story, but it was a bit too long for my taste. In my opinion it could have been much shorter without ruining the story. I have the short story somewhere, maybe I should read it to see if it's better than the movie.

Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

I read the book last year and I must say I like the movie so much more than the book. There was to many almost identical lists in the book, the movie is more fast-paced, which definitely is a good thing in this case. A good entertaining movie, if you don't feel like thinking too much.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Same category as Bridget Jones's Diary. Absolutely better than the book. I found it a bit weird that Simon Baker played Christian Thompson though. To me, Simon Baker is the mentalist (haven't seen him anywhere else until now) and he's really good in the Mentalist, so it was hard for me to see him as a young writer. Plus I imagined Christian to be much younger and dark-haired.

Origami

The first week of the new semester I spent folding paper like crazy. We had to explore different origami patterns and how to make interesting shapes, which resulted in a desk filled with folded paper. Origami is not new to me, as a child I folded a lot of animals from the origami paper my mom brought home from Japan long before I was born. But when I ran out of paper, I didn't bother to get more, so it's been a long time since I've made any origami. But it was fun to do origami again, now I just need some pretty origami paper.

Apropos origami, these fun, colourful candles was to be found in my reader a few days ago. There's so many things I'd never knew of if it wasn't for blogs...
As a teen I collected candles in various colours and shapes and I think these would be a great addition to my collection. And it would look so pretty with a few origami boat candles floating in a bowl of water.

New books and a Sunday song

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ok, I lied when I wrote that I'd post the squirrel photos later this week, because I'm not going to post them today as I just feel like showing something else. But they'll be up tomorrow night, promise!

Friday I picked up a package from Amazon with new books. New books are always a good thing, even though one of them is for the new semester and not fictional. But the cover is pretty, which helps a lot (now I just hope it's not too boring to read!).
To get free shipping I had to buy something else, so I chose a Moleskine notebook for small sketches, lists and whatever I feel like. I also bought Keel's Simple Diary, I've wanted it for a long, long time. I simply couldn't resist it anymore.

When I bought the diary, I had a hard time choosing between the two yellow ones. The vintage yellow was nice too, but I chose the bright yellow and I'm glad I did, because it's such a happy colour (now I'm just curious what the reasons for choosing the vintage yellow would be). I need more yellow stuff in my life. And the edges of the pages are silver, I love it.

Today, this song has been on repeat. I found it on youtube this morning, I've never heard it before, but I really like it. But hey, it's Jason Mraz, so no wonder - he's one of my all time favourites.

La Purisima Mission, part one

The weather was really nice when we visited La Purisima Mission. It almost felt like spring in the end of December. It was such a nice place and cute squirrels were running around. I'll show you my squirrel photos later this week!

Poppies

I love poppies, it's one of my favourites when it comes to flowers. I really like how fragile they are (but that's also the bad thing about them - they're not long lasting and almost impossible to bring inside).

I'm always looking for beautiful prints for my bare, white walls. I found these prints by Jennifer Comstock at Etsy a while ago, maybe one of these would be suitable for my wall decoration project. I just can't decide which one I like the most.

Which one do you prefer?

Woodpeckers and tree overload

I know there's a lot of trees in this post, but I couldn't choose between them. One night we ended up staying at a camp site at Cachuma Lake. It was dark when we arrived, so we had no idea what it looked like before we woke up next morning. It was a nice place and there was a lot (and I mean a lot) of woodpeckers in the trees. I've never seen so many woodpeckers at a time (which explains my eagerness with the camera). On our way up north we also went to see Solvang, the "Danish" city. To me it looked more German than Danish though.
